The Texas A&M University Chemical Engineering Department, along with AIChE - South Texas Section, and the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center, is sponsoring a new annual symposium.  The Modeling of Complex Processes Symposium will be held on March 1-3, 2005, at the Jack E. Brown Chemical Engineering Building, on the Texas A&M University Campus, in College Station, Texas.

The Modeling of Complex Processes Symposium will showcase processes, methodologies, programs, applications, and projects that bridge the gap between fundamental research efforts and industrial applications, and stimulate advances in this field.   It will consist of two main events:

The Gilbert F. Froment 05 Symposium.  This will be held to honor Professor Froment's seminal contributions and will include plenary presentations by top experts in the field.  This symposium will take place on March 1, 1:30 - 6:00PM, followed by a banquet.

The Symposium on Modeling of Complex Processes.  This will include technical sessions running as two concurrent tracks of sessions.  The symposium will be held on March 2-3, 2005 begining at 9:00AM each morning.

The Symposium will provide:

  • an opportunity for researchers and engineering practitioners to present results to their peers;

  • a forum for exchange of ideas and information;

  • implications of technological innovations for future work on modeling complex processes;

  • an opportunity to learn about funding, access to data, and new programs.

Selected papers presented at the Modeling of Complex Processes Symposium will be published in a special issue of Computers and Chemical Engineering.
